Training

The HSC Strategy for Bereavement Care (2009) Standard 1 requires Health and Social Care staff to have an awareness and understanding of dying, death and bereavement. Standard 5, relates to the knowledge, skills and support of staff who care for dying people and those affected by bereavement. It recognises the value of a skilled workforce by ensuring that organisations provide opportunities for these staff to become competent to deliver care, through continuing professional development. It also highlights the need to have systems in place to support them.

This section includes training presentations and information on training events delivered by statutory, voluntary and community organisations, for example, Clinical Education Centre, Cruse, SANDS, NI Hospice, Marie Curie. The self care section contains information on available staff support and other helpful resources.
